A Report on the November 9, 2008 meeting of Remain Episcopal Good Shepherd
A bright blue, cloudless sky welcomed everyone to our Sunday service. Fifty-four parishioners arrived early to greet each other with Christian love. Several new items were dedicated, blessed and welcomed into our parish. A flawless brass processional cross was donated by a neighboring Episcopal Church. It stands like a sentry as a symbol of our faith behind the altar. Fair linen and other altar cloths were purchased and donated by one of our families. The blessed linen and cloths were immediately put into good use, ordaining our altar. Also put into immediate usage was a lectionary and a gospel book. These items came to us from an Episcopal Church. The books were blessed and received into our service. A candle lighter was purchased for our use by a parish family. A cruet dryer was fashioned by an artisan member of our group for use by our Altar Guild. It was crafted with love to be used after our first Eucharist. Both the candle lighter and cruet dryer were dedicated and received into the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Con & Carol Shuck invited the congregation to participate in the celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. Special prayers were offered in honor of their wedding that had taken place in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1968. We were showered with a delightful reception including mimosas and food galore. Best wishes were offered to the couple.
Most of the 54 attendees lingered and enjoyed our close friendships as well as the enjoyable cuisine offered by the Shucks'. We are very comfortable with each other and confident in our future.
